Ale Granfondo Istočno Sarajevo (Eastern Sarajevo) will serve as the ultimate test event for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships who take place in the same city and on the same courses as this Granfondo. Riders have the option between a shorter mediofondo of 64km and a long granfondo of 100km. There is also a time trial on Friday on a 20km course.
Istočno Sarajevo or East-Sarajevo is the eastern part of the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina and part of the Republic Srpska, one of the two regions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city has 61.516 inhabitants.

Sarajevo has an international airport at only a few kilometers from the start and finish of the road races.
The finish of the road races is located in Jahorina at an altitude of 1500m, 28km away from the city.
